Overview on Fleas-pesky parasites
Fleas are generally
considered as external parasites, which live
in hematophagy of the blood among birds and
mammals. Some of the well known flea species
include dog flea, cat flea, sand flea, human
flea and northern rat flea. Generally, the
flea body is very hard, have small spines
thrust backward, polished, and covered with
much hair with their sucking mouthparts, which
are well-shaped in order to suck blood from
the host’s body.
Fleas are most troublesome and frequently
encountered pests or insects that attack human
beings as well as their pets. However, there
are certain preventive measures that can be
used in order to prevent their growth or destroy
them. Fleas feed on blood that can cause an
extreme infestation like anaemia and also
can cause death in animals. If you have pets
at home then there are greater chances of
fleas to be present in your house or surroundings
as pets are susceptible to flea attacks.
Scabs, scratching, flea dirt or dark specs
can be few signs of your pet being attacked
by these pesky parasites. There are certain
measures to reduce and take care of the flea
infestation as it requires quick action and
patience. The life cycle of fleas are basically
for about 21 days, so you can plan out of
how to lessen this flea disease. There are
many flea products that are available in the
market for removing and reducing the fleas,
including sprays, powders and shampoos.
If you have a pet, make sure you keep its
enclosure clean and dry so as to make it comfortable
and free from flea infestation. Make sure
to keep your home dry during rough weather
conditions so as to eliminate fleas from your
home. Vacuuming your house on regular basis
helps you in keeping it flea free.
Another major problem that prevails is flea
bite which is most commonly experienced by
humans and pets, which results in itchy skin
bumps having little clusters and a central
mark of bite. This itchy flea bite easily
gets heeled up in some days with the use of
some steroids lotion or creams on the infected
area that increase the speed of healing the
bite mark. In order to get rid of fleas from
your house you must properly vacuum all the
areas and corners where your pet sits as well
as wash the beddings of your pet regularly.
